As part of Dragon’s Abreast’s ongoing commitment to helping breast cancer survivors thrive, we recently kicked off our wellness workshops, and the first two sessions have been nothing short of amazing! These events, designed to promote wellness of the body, mind, and spirit following breast cancer treatment, brought together expert presenters who shared valuable insights and techniques tailored to our members.
On November 10th, our first workshop featured David Newton, Longevity Specialist, Neuroplasticity and Equilibrium Coach, Movement Therapist, and Reiki Master. David’s therapeutic yoga session focused on mobility, flexibility, and balance, especially tailored for dragon boat paddlers. Participants learned practical techniques to counter the effects of aging on posture and gait.
Shauna Lindzon, Consulting Dietitian, followed with an enlightening session on nutrition and breast cancer, offering tips that we can easily integrate into our daily lives. We also had the chance to savour the delicious recipes she prepared on the spot. Her time with us was generously sponsored by Wellspring Toronto.

On December 1st, we took wellness a step further with two incredible sessions. Dr. Liza Egbogah, body and posture expert, manual osteopath, chiropractor, myofascial release therapist, wowed everyone—not only with her fabulous pink shoes that she creates, but also with her innovative techniques for improving posture and lymphatic drainage.
Finally, Rufus Glassco, Sound Healing Practitioner, led us on a gorgeous meditative sound bath journey so relaxing that one participant fell asleep to the soothing tones.

The feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive:
- “Both the therapeutic yoga and nutrition sessions provided valuable information and suggestions that I can easily incorporate into my day-to-day life. I’m looking forward to the next one!” – Liz C.
- “This was not just a yoga class—it was a hands-on lesson in mobility, flexibility, and balance. So interesting!” – Audrey M.
- “This workshop was superb. A great combination of presenters—both were first class and of absolute benefit to us paddlers.” – Holly G.
Thank you to our presenters and the social committee for making these workshops a huge success. We can’t wait to see what’s in store next!
